After installation, the light‑box image shows alternating bright and dark stripes (commonly called “ribbed pattern” or “rib effect”). This is especially noticeable when viewed up close, where the light distribution is extremely uneven, seriously affecting the visual appeal of the advertisement and the brand image.
Solutions
Edge‑lighting uses a unique side‑emitting design: light enters from the side of the light guide plate, undergoes multiple refractions, and is then uniformly emitted from the front surface. This creates a perfect “surface‑light” effect, completely eliminating hot spots and dark areas, achieving even and consistent illumination.
Optimized Layout Methods
Install the strips on the top and bottom sides (for horizontal light boxes) or on the left and right sides (for vertical light boxes).
The light‑emitting side of the strip should face the edge of the light guide plate to ensure optimal light coupling.
Maintain a 2–3 mm gap between the strip and the light guide plate to avoid contact that could create hot spots.
The light‑box depth is universal; no need to increase the number of strips when depth varies.
